to Daniel Gardner Ceramics. I am an artist working in the Minneapolis /
St. Paul area. I maintain a home studio and teach at Northern Clay
Center and Hopkins Community Education.
I hold degrees from Indiana University Bloomington (MFA, Ceramics), Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (BFA, Ceramics), and Southwestern University (BA, English). I’ve had the honor of serving as visiting artist at Bowling Green State University and University of Manitoba Winnipeg, and as a member of the faculty at Indiana University Indianapolis.
Much of my current work is thrown on the wheel and heavily altered. Many of my ceramic vessels conjure an abstract relationship to the human body. Recent work focuses on sets that contrast bright glaze against rich clay, edges against softer form, mass against lightness. I develop many of my own glazes and fire primarily in atmospheric soda and wood kilns.
